Can Adults Learn Absolute Pitch? A Breakthrough 20-Day Training Method

I saw a study yesterday suggesting that while people with absolute pitch (AP) learn music quickly early on and don't need much ear training, they often suffer from severe pitch drift as they age due to cochlear hardening. This means they struggle to identify notes correctly later in life, which really shocked me. I started searching for solutions, and while digging through research, I was shocked again: a new study claims that adults can actually develop absolute pitch. While the common scientific consensus—supported by a 2019 TNAS paper—was that AP must be acquired before age 6 and is essentially innate, a 2025 paper suggests otherwise. By performing repetitive labeling training for just 20 days, some adults achieved near-perfect absolute pitch that is indistinguishable from the innate version. Theoretically, this acquired AP adapts with age. Unlike innate AP, which loses accuracy as the cochlea stiffens and pitch perception shifts upward with age, this learned form of AP continues to recalibrate through use, remaining functional even as the ear ages. It doesn't suffer from the same drawbacks or interference as innate AP. I’m honestly stunned. If you’re interested in trying this, I can share the paper link in the comments, or I might make a video explaining how this 20-day training program works.
